December 29, 2005
A recent survey done by the Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun on business plans for 2006 of 45 major Japanese semiconductor makers and electronic component manufacturers showed that 59.1% of these companies do not have plans to scale down operations in China, despite political tensions between the two countries and the possibility of further RMB. However, 38.6% of the companies stated that they will be considering making changes to their China operations, mainly in order to spread risks among different countries. Countries most popular among companies considering adjustments were Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.
